Drying Flowers

There are two methods to dry this flower: a) hang drying b) Using Silica Gel. Hang drying flowers in my experience has been the most efficient technique with the least amount of time required. The flowers can be hung on a coat hanger near a window which is south facing( likely to receive more light). b) Apply the Silica Gel method. Use a plastic container and allow the silica to cover the flowers. Silica gel is a porous granular form of silica dioxide. Despite its name it is not actually a gel but a solid material that looks like small glassy beads of crystals. And yes it is the small packet often found in shoes, packages for electronics and clothes as it can be used to prevent moisture damage.

However, it is possible to find high quality flowers and plants in the surroundings around you. I remember once being in Hampstead and buying pine thinking what a beautiful plant then see a few pine trees growing whilst walking in a park. Melting the Soya Wax I use a heat save container and double boil that is ( boil over a pot or simmering water). You will need a silicone or wooden stick to stir the wax. Stir the wax to ensure that it melts quickly ( on a low heat). At what temperature should fragrance oils be added? It is good practice to let the wax cool to 60 - 65c before adding the fragrances or dies. Caution Do not leave the soya wax unattended. Wax melt and tarts ideally should be poured at 55 - 65 c (130 - 150) is ideal. I

Desgin Your soya wax for the Christmas mould
Many moulds can be purchased on line to create yout home tailoted ornaments for the Christmas Tree.

Design is by preferene but you can consider designing the moulds with many herbs and spices from your kitchen. For example below is a link of spcies that can be sprinkled on mould:

Cinammon
Cloves
dried lemon and Oranges
Nutmeg(whole)
Fengueek Seed
Black Pepper
Hibiscus
Rosemary
White peppercorns
Thyme
Rosemary

In my experience of making this, less is always more so this can be presented liberally on the Soya Wax.

Once completed the pieces can also be used as centre pieces to decorate the chrismas table.

Alternatively you can keep the noulds plain and sill create a stunning look.
